Thaddeus is baptized. Surgery Tentatively set for Tuesday.
On February 11, 2011, Thaddeus was made a son of God through Holy Baptism. We trust in God's promise to create saving faith though baptism. We take comfort in the knowledge that whatever happens to his body, we know exactly what will happen to his soul.We have heard back from the cardiologist and we have some tentative answers. We were originally given a few possibilities regarding what kind of surgery Thaddeus would need. We were hoping for the lesser surgery, but it sounds like it will be the more serious option. As of right now. as far as I understand, they are planning on increasing the size of the aortic arch to allow the blood to flow more easily out of the heart. They will also unite the vein and artery leaving the heart together and send them to the same place. They will then put in a shunt to send the blood to the lungs. In order to do this they will need to go through the sternum (chest bone). After the surgery they will not close up his chest but will put a covering on it. They will wait a few days for any swelling to go down, and make sure all is as planned in the chest, and then they will go back and sew him up. He will then spend an undetermined amount of time in the hospital recovering. In addition to watching to make sure the surgery is effective, the medical personal will also be watching to see how Thaddeus is eating. This is often an issue
