Update 21

We had a relatively quiet weekend with Thaddeus. They have seen no sign of infection and so will finish the course of antibiotics and then stop them. Sunday morning some of his numbers did drop into some warning zones, but after a while he was able to rebound and bring everything right back where we want them. Since he didn't have an infection, the doctors are wondering what is causing his numbers to move into danger zones. They wanted to increase his meds to lower his pulse rate (it is about 140 to 180, they would like it more in the 120 to 160 range) and his blood pressure. Before they would do this though, they did an echocardiogram. They wanted to make sure the blood was flowing freely through the shunt. IF it wasn't and they decrease how hard his heart was pumping, it could mean stopping the blood flow to the lungs. The echo showed that everything is working very well with the shunt and blood is flowing very well. However, it did also show that the valve in his heart that stops the blood from flowing backwards is leaking. This could be for several reasons. The worst case is that the valve is damaged. However it could also be because of the fact that his heart is pumping so hard right now that it is forcing blood through the valve and decreasing the blood pressure will fix the problem. It could also be that the heart is a bit dilated from everything going in which has also dilated the valve causing it not to seal properly. This would eventually fix itself as well. This will be a wait and see kind of a thing.

Dede is back home now, but is planning on visiting Thaddeus as close to daily as possible. As we get closer to check out we will have to undergo some training and a testing period before we are allowed to take him home. We will need to stay down there for that. Otherwise, if things continue to move slowly forward, we plan to do the back and forth thing. Speaking of which, a huge thank you to everyone who has generously helped us out with time and gifts. The food and gas and babysitting has proved immensely helpful already.(Especially with the way prices are going!) Another thing you can do is to save soda can tabs for the Ronald McDonald House. They recycle the aluminum for money to support what they do. The kids have collection "houses" and I now have one in my classroom as well. Also, if you know a nurse, give him/her a big hug from me.Their passion is not only making sure my child makes it though this, but that my wife and I do as well. Lastly, and most importantly, thank you for the prayers, keep them coming! Everyday that Thaddeus is with us is another miracle from the Lord. Thank him for me and I thank him for all of you.

My next update may be several days off. If you don't hear anything, then things are moving along slowly. If anything big happens, I will let you know.

Less Wires!
The spot where they closed his chest is simply a fine line. Where the tubes were should be just small scars.
I SEE YOU!

He's Taking More from The Bottle!
His feedings have increased to 60 cc's which is the target amount. He is taking anywhere from 20 to 40 cc's by bottle
