Update 18

At around 6 am, Thaddeus had his breathing tube removed. The first 6 hours are the crucial ones, and he just passed those! His numbers are still looking good.  The tube in his nose is for oxygen and doesn't go all the way down and into his lungs like the last one. They apparently give him a blast of oxygen periodically to open up his lungs. They will continue to do that until the see by his numbers that it is making him agitated. That means he no longer needs it.
They turned off the adrenaline drip this morning as well. That leaves him with a nutrient drip, a blood thinner, and a drug to help maximize the pumping effect of the heart. They will give him a diuretic as needed to keep up his flow. They have removed some of the sensors. Some of the sensors were measuring the same things, just at different parts of the body. This redundancy is no longer needed.
He is still hooked up to some just in case things. If all goes well some of these will come out tomorrow morning. This includes the line in his navel, the pacer wires that could be used to hook up to an external pace maker, and the catheter. They will leave the central (PIC) line in just in case they would need to give him anything.

Now that the breathing tube is out, they will leave him alone for the day to rest and they will see how he does. If that goes well, the other things come out tomorrow am. If no issues arise, they will then start to give him food through a feeding tube. SO far he has just had a nutrient. This would be actual food that his stomach would have to digest. This takes blood flow and puts the heart through extra work, so they will watch that carefully.
The doctors have decided that the crash he had on Sunday was in fact his body going into "shock". As such the progress he is making now is extremely pleasing.
You should see the other guy.

Told you there was a baby under there somewhere.
